Academics
Holy Family School students in grade 3, 4 and 5 take the national test, Iowa Tests of Basic Skills, in October.  Scores have ALWAYS been above National score averages.
Over  50% of our graduates achieve honor roll and extinguished honors throughout their academic career years.

Faculty
All faculty members are degreed according to Pennsylvania law, including following the Act 48 Continuing Education State requirements.

TECHNOLOGY
As of Spring of 2008 all classrooms will be networked for teacher and student use.  Safety blocks are in place for all use of computers.  Each student in 4th and 5th grade will have a laptop computer to be used in class.  A computer lab is available for use by other classes, under the teacher’s direction.

SPECIAL SUBJECTS
Besides the regular subject matter, Holy Family School offers Library services, Music, Computer Applications, and Physical Education in all grades.  Conversational Spanish is offered in Grades 3, 4 & 5.  Public Speaking is part of 5th grade’s curriculum.

MUSIC PROGRAM
The music program includes singing, music appreciation, use of hand bells, and music theory for all grades.  Instrument instruction on recorders is offered in 4th grade.
An annual Christmas performance takes place each year.  For special occasions students perform in public using the hand bells.

LIBRARY SERVICES
The librarian offers beginning students assistance in choosing books that involve topics being discussed in the classroom or research for projects.  Library reference skills are taught in grades 1 through 5.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PE)
The PE program is centered on the President’s  Physical Fitness Program.  This national program involves learning skills that are geared toward personal and lifelong fitness.  For 5 years in a row we have won the state championship in this area for our size school..

MISCELLANEOUS FACTS
+   Holy Family School  welcomes all races, denominations and faiths. 

+   Most of our graduates tell us they have an easy transition to sixth grade and find much of the work a review of what they have already learned.

+   Bus transportation is provided within the Berwick Area School district and parts of the Central Columbia and Nanticoke districts.

+   Hot lunch is available on a daily basis.

+   Grades include ALL DAY  Kindergarten through 5th grade.
      Continued Catholic education is available for grades 6, 7 and 8 in Bloomsburg.

+   Holy Family School class size currently averages 12 to 15 students per class. 

+   Scholarships and tuition assistance are available through the EITC and FOCUS grant programs.  Applications are available through the school office.  EITC applications must be completed and mailed by April 1st.

+   There is open enrollment for all grades.  Registration begins Jan. 28, 2008.  Please call the school at (570) 752-2021 for information or to set up a personal visit.

+   The current tuition scale for the 2007 – 2008 school year is:
            $2,080.            Catholic Parishioners (Catholic parishes are assessed to help)
            $2,400.            Non-Catholic Students
Tuition for families with more than one students is discounted on a graduated scale.
